Spent day at Oxfam culling clothes, steaming, being on the shop floor, having tea and biscuits, chatting with co-volunteers, watching co-volunteers talk about knickers and so on. I like it there. Unlike paid gigs, it is more relaxed, and since it is a volunteer gig, you feel like it makes more sense in the grand scheme of things – you are, afterall, helping these people raise money for the poor of the world.
I miss “Harper’s Island”. Can’t wait to see what happens next.
Thought for the day:
“If you want a better way of life, Marcie, you always have to cross an ocean, or a desert, or a mountain. Sometimes, however, your whole life can be changed by crossing a crowded room. ” – Peppermint Patty
“Remember, always be yourself. Unless you suck.” – Joss Whedon
Movie I watched:
“Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist” – I’m totally not the intended demographic of this film, although there were some funny moments and one-liners (like “You’re just one penis short of being a Shania Twain revival band”, or something). But awkward adolescent moments, unrequitted love affairs, dorky periods, not my thing. ^^ And this movie lost me when that girl dropped her mobile and bubble gum into the toilet in which she just threw up and proceeds to fish out said mobile and gum from bowl. Eeewww. Reminds me of “Trainspotting” – but that movie was really good. And the book was most excellent. “Nick and Nora” did have a good soundtrack though.
