Fingersmith (update)

So I  read Sarah Waters’ “Fingersmith” the whole night last night. I woke up around 6am today – the light outside always seems like it’s the late morning light, so I wake early whether I like it or not – and continued reading it, in the doom and gloom of early morning. ^^ I read from 7pm last night up to around 2am. I have been reading from 6am today and it is now 1:34pm. I do not want to tear myself from the book. I have not eaten dinner, breakfast or lunch. Yes, it’s that good.

I usually say the book is better than the movie. I rarely say a movie is better than a book.

But of this novel – I cannot say it is better or worse than the movie. The movie is a visual medium and so is effective at conveying the visual aspects of the book. But the book is effective at conveying other things that make my understanding of the characters deeper. And thus the movie and the book supplement each other – although there are changes in the movie that were not in the book. And here we have a a book and movie that actually complement and supplement each other. It is rather astounding. (A few more books like this and I’ll start sounding like them – already I’ve been in England a year and I sound a bit like them as well.)

My review will come after I am done. I am almost done with this book.
